BLIND SOCCER

Mexico City, 2021

When I first started this project, everything was black and white. I didn’t understand what they felt and what they were really doing. It wasn’t until I put my mask on and closed my eyes when I started to see the reality of that sport. The reality of that way of playing.

This experience taught me that we are capable of doing whatever makes us happy even in the darkest moments. We can learn to see things from a different perspective and sometimes that different is just better. Yes, it’s like having your eyes closed; nevertheless, closing them means to imagine the space, to listen, to stand, and feel in a more conscious way. Senses like hearing and feeling become safeguards. People around you, become angels.

Thank you to Futbol Azteca for letting me be part of this amazing journey.
